FAQ

1. Why should I take a cyber security awareness class?

It would be nice if we could only be concerned about our own problems. However, if the power company has a problem, our lights and televisions don't work. If the 911 emergency phone system doesn't work, our emergency calls are not answered. If the bank is robbed by a fraudulent transfer of funds, where do you think the money will come from?

We all depend on others for our survival. We don't grow our own food, pump our own water, dig our own sewer systems, generate our own electricity, etc. Because much of our nation depends on infrastructure that is controlled by computers and many of our daily activities are affected by computers, computer security is not an individual concern. Our networks depend on the flow of information and on the integrity of the information we get from others. Addressing information assurance within a community helps ensure continued operations and minimal impact from cyber attacks.
